“Don't let them go. Let us know!”
Success Stories!
He is one of the original Underdogs.
He's made a full recovery and stands as an advocate and ambassador for The Underdogs
She is also one of the original Underdogs. She and Jack were found on the streets near Choctaw. They both showed signs of dehydration and starvation. This did not prevent them from showing their true sweetheart nature.
Surely, this is better than fighting for meals, sleeping in the rain and snow and not knowing what the next day will bring.
...when we found them
Our first foster to family success story. Uno Kitty has found a caring home. Thanks to our friend, Holly, for sharing our Facebook post, so her high school friend could see it and find her perfect family member.
Someone actually let this little guy go. We were lucky to find him just before the winter hit us here in OKC.
Thanks to Tracey and Tony (and your 4 cats) for opening your home and life to little brindle Bandit. He was abandoned near downtown OKC on a very cold night. We were lucky to have found him. We're happy to say he's doing well and is getting oh so spoiled! You two are life savers and then some!
El BanditO the BandiT and my good friend Tony who, opened up their home to this guy 7 months ago. Always a pleasure to see them grow up and happy! See him in our upcoming Underdogs Calendar.
On her first day, after rescuing her from the pound, in Bay City, Texas. You can see she was just skin and bones. She was hiding under an abandoned car in the back country, when an animal control officer spotted her and brought her to the shelter, where a lucky Meike found her the next day and, instantly, fell in love.
Meike can tell you that Miss Honey is one of the best things to ever come into her life. She's as sweet as honey and a great addition to the home. As you can see, looking at what she looked like in the pound, she didn't stand too much of a chance of finding a caring home or let alone a helping hand.
This boy has been in and out of shelters his whole life. When Meike stumbled upon him, at the Pets and People facility in Yukon, he had been with them for about a year He is shy and does not sell himself well, so he got overlooked all this time.
He turned out to be a real protector of the ladies of the house and is now Meike's biggest fan.
We're overwhelmingly excited to report this success story. We, here at the Underdogs, are proud to mention the big heart and extremely big help of Jen Stanford! Jen found this little girl tied up to a tree by a 2 ft length of rope and a laundry basket padded only with tattered clothing. She was found cold and in the snow on New Years Day.
Because of a referral from a good friend of ours, her guardian angel, Jen. was alerted to our cause and our goals, and she was able to contact us. Within a day of learning of what Jen had done, we quickly found a good home. A BIG thank you also goes to Jeffrey Hammons. You finally got that little girl you've been looking for to warm your home.
*ADOPTED*
Sammy seemed to sense his fortune the day we save him from death row. This picture was taken moments after we pulled him from the shelter, after fighting to have his euthanization put on hold. Meike is getting the reward for her efforts.
A happy pup on the way home from the shelter.
Our one and only Luka. We found her on February 25th, on NE 63rd and Westminster, on the side of the road. She was all skin and bones, freezing and hungry. After a good Samaritan took her to the vet to have her checked and vaccinated, she is ready now for her forever home. We don't know much about her, but think that she might be about 2-3 years old and that she is a Jack Russel Terrier mix.
Loooooouuuu has come a long way since being found on the side of the cold road out in the country. Lulu is currently in foster care with the Underdogs, and looking for her forever home. She's a dedicated cuddler!
Monk found an immediate place in our hearts. Hi name says everything about him. He is the most relaxed pup you will ever meet. He was let go on the road, out in the middle nowhere, suffering from Parvo.
*ADOPTED* Here he is on the way to the dog park, sitting on his foster sisters behind... He has been successfully treated for Parvo has found the best forever family a pup can ask for!
After we pulled her in off the street, bathed her, and pulled 13 ticks off of her. She had ring worm and needed food and water badly. Despite all of this, she was still ready to be loved.
Here she is posing for the world to see! She was a great foster puppy, but needed her forever home.
We're confident she found her perfect forever home. She was a surprise for the kids, and here she is meeting the family's oldest daughter for the first time. Be good, Maggie.
This kitten was rescued from the street literally seconds before a truck could run her over.
Birdie likes to take it easy these days!
Found chained up with 6 other dogs in Shiloh, AR. She had both types of mange and hadn't eaten or had water in so long. She didn't have long.
Her ears tell the story. They've always gone straight up in the air. She just wanted a home and to get better. She never gave up.
It's crazy to think this is only roughly three weeks following her rescue. She is recovering so very well, and shows signs of improvement each day. She's still in rehabilitation, but will soon be ready for a permanent foster or even adoption.
